A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare between 1590 and 1597.
The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.
The plot
The Midsummer Night's dream is the story of Lysander and Hermia, who are in love. The want to escape to Hermia's father's weeding with Demetrius. So they decide to organize a lover meeting in the wood. Hermia talk about this meeting with her friend Helena. Helena, who is in love with Demetrius,told him that Lysander and Hermia will have a meeting. So Lysander and Hermia fled to the forest , followed by Demetrius and Helena .
In the wood, Oberon, the king of the fairies is in conflit with his wife, Titania, because she refuses to renounce control of a young Indian prince whom he wants for a
knight. So he asks to his mad jester, Puck, to find a love potion, which make her fall in love with first person she sees upon waking up, because he would like Titania falls madly in love with him, which would end their quarrels.
At the same time, in the wood, Oberon see the 4 young persones.
Outraged of the boorishness of Demetrius towards Helena, he charges also Puck to enchant the young man for it falls lover of her. But by inadvertently Puck spear the spell on Lysander who falls in love with Helena and rejects Hermia .
Oberon sends Puck to fetch him Helene while he pours the love potion on Demetrius. On waking, Demetrius sees Helena and he fall in love . Lysander and Demetrius are now both in pursuit of Helena. But she is convinced that the two mens are making fun of her .
Later Oberon request to Puck to put things in order, so that finally all goes well . Puck cancels the love potion on Lysander and Hermia, but not on Demetrius.
So, at the end, all's well that ends well: Hermia and Lysander are in love, Helena and Demetrius too. and they were married together.
